On October 4th, The Barbara McDowell Foundation proudly announced its commitment to advancing social justice by awarding grants totaling $125,000 to five deserving nonprofit organizations: A Better Childhood, Lone Star Justice Alliance, Rights Behind Bars, Texas Fair Defense Project, and Upper Seven Law. The 1st Annual Champion for Justice Award was presented to Lisa Grafstein by Terry Moran, Special News Correspondent, ABC News. Grafstein, Litigation Counsel for Disability Rights NC. (“DRNC”), has a long history of championing social justice, both in private practice and in her stellar, and prominent career, at DRNC. Lisa has been lead counsel in numerous impactful social justice cases including ones in which she worked with Foundation President, Jerry Hartman.
